DESCRIPTION:What do we know about the changing patterns of frauds during th
e pandemic? It is easy to take the data that have been published by polic
e organisations and banks as a baseline\, but we need to take into account
the elapsed time to detection by individual and organisational victims an
d the resources available to investigate them. The paper will review the
evidence available to date and what we know about the reactions of public
authorities to prevent and react to fraud risks from transnational organis
ed crime and by less 'connected' offenders\, both by criminal investigatio
n and by broader fraud reduction mechanisms. It will address what we have
learned from previous pandemics and the challenges that pandemics pose fo
 r fraud control
